About BelascoTheatre Company:

 This is our fifth year as the Southern California division of BelascoTheatre Company.  An extension of the 26 year old established Northern California division, our comprehensive training program provides students with an exhilarating theatre experience.  Not only do students become skilled in acting, singing and dancing, they are given the opportunity to perform in  Broadway-style productions. In continuing the tradition of providing first-rate entertainment, we plan two excellent and challenging productions to be performed each season at the Hermosa Beach Playhouse.

 Belasco Theatre Company does Michael Jackson proud with its revival of "The Wiz", the 1978 film that starred the entertainer that died last week. The all-youth production company captures the uplifting style of Jackson's performance as Scarecrow, in this musical based on L. Frank Baum's "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz". Most amazing, however, is that company founder and "Wiz" director Shanti Belasco Glynn has managed to assemble a young cast that performs nearly flawlessly- with none of the off-key singing or awkward stage entrances and exits often seen from young performers."
